Books Wanderlusting Wild

We’ve all experienced it – the feeling of wanderlust. Once you’ve been bitten by the ‘travel bug’, it can be incredibly difficult to contain the feeling of wanderlust – especially after a recent holiday. If you can’t get out and explore, then a book is a great option to fuel your wanderlust and even give you ideas for your next journey!

I’ve put together a diverse collection of my five of my favourite books that will definitely have you wanderlusting (and hard!). These reads will have you climbing mountains, eating in Italy and transporting you back in time. Ready to take your mind on an adventure?

Books wanderlusting The Sun also Rises

1. The Sun also Rises – Ernest Hemingway

The Sun also Rises tells the story of a groups of British and American expatriates who explore the world from Paris to Pamplona. This brilliant classic will have you wanderlusting for time travel (to the 1920s) and for the beautiful continent of Europe.

Books Wanderlusting Wild

2. Wild – Cheryl Strayed

Wild tells the story of a young woman who finds herself by going on a solo hike through the Pacific Crest Trail. This tale will have you in a flurry of emotions from laughing to crying and everything in between. It definitely made me want to dust off my hiking boots and wayfare!

Books Wanderlusting Eat Pray Love

3. Eat, Pray, Love – Elizabeth Gilbert

Eat, Pray, Love is a 2006 memoir telling the tale of Elizabeth Gilbert’s journey through Italy, India and Indonesia. Now a major film, this book is incredibly relatable and details the author’s search to find her true self (post divorce), as well as her discoveries during travel. A must read for anyone looking to commence on a solo journey in search of self!

Books Wanderlusting Diary of Anne Frank

4. The Diary of a Young Girl – Anne Frank

The Diary of a Young Girl tells the intimate story of Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl living with her family in hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam during World War II. Anne’s journal entries recount the Holocaust first-hand and will have you in tears, as well as pining to visit Eastern Europe for a history lesson!
